NORDONIA, Ohio – The Berea-Midpark Titans win an exciting game against the Normandy Invaders, clinching the Division 1 district title.
The game started off with good defense from the Invaders. Normandy had a good sense of when to push, and attack the ball. It was Berea-Midpark junior, Miya Walker, who put the Titans up on the board first. The Titans managed to keep up with the pace set by Normandy. At the end of the first quarter, it was practically a tie game. However, Normandy had one point on the Titans making the score going into the second 10-9.
Emma Arnold, junior for the Titans, scored five points back-to-back to start off the second quarter. Arnold managed seven points in the first half, and 18 points in total. Key game player for the Invaders, junior Ziley Minich, took advantage of numerous Normandy possessions in the first half. Minich also had ten points at the end of the half. The game was still pretty close throughout the rest of the second quarter, but Berea-Midpark went into halftime leading by ten points, 29-19.
The Invaders came back from half time hungry for the lead. Ziley Minich scored seven points for the Invaders at the start of the third quarter. Minich scored a total of 19 points in the game. Casey Friel, junior for the Titans, responded with a two-pointer. Friel scored 10 points total for the Titans.
From that point on, Berea-Midpark took full control of the game. Heading into the fourth quarter, the Titans had great offensive plays, and scored many baskets. Lilly Jones, freshman for the Titans, scored 13 points in total with most of those points scored during the fourth. The Invaders put up a marvelous fight, but in the end, the Titans won the game with a final score of 61-42.

Great job lady Titans and congrats to Coach B. With all the things this group has gone through with the old coach getting dismissed and resigning in November this is quite the accomplishment. You should be very proud of your hard work paying off the sky’s limit for this group of young ladies! And big guy please stop the Twitter posts it’s getting old! Not your team anymore- so ride that high horse into the sunset!
