Thomas gets the first rose because she pretty much had no connection with anyone on the first group date and he made out with her. That about sealed it, what his long-term chances may be, are still to be seen.
Andrew received a rose because he revealed he was poor growing up. He was also the first person to check on her once the drama began in the house.
Gregg received a rose on the solo date as they looked at fireworks. Again, the early connection between Katie and Gregg seems very strong. It will be interesting to see how he does when she begins to go on dates with other men.
