The Bachelorette: Action & Reaction

After two nights of the Bachelorette, we have a lot to breakdown here, so let’s get right too it folks.

Action: Tayshia sends 2 men home before the rose ceremony can even take place.

Reaction: While I don’t think anyone was surprised Blake was sent home, I think it may have caught some off guard the incredibly dramatic and sorrowful reaction from Tayshia as she did it.  It was as if reality finally hit her that this was no longer a game, and people’s real emotions and feelings were at hand.

As for Riley, I had him as my fourth last week in the final four along with Ben, Ivan and Brendan to receive the hometown dates.  It turns out, she decided on Zach instead and sent Riley home before the rose ceremony.  Again, I know this may sound strange, but she was doing the humane thing by ending it early.  Why drag someone’s feelings through the mud any further when you know you don’t have the connection.

Action: Ivan, Brendan, Zach and Ben advance to the hometown dates.

Reaction: No surprise at all with Ivan the Underdog, Ben and eventual winner Brendan, but a mild upset with Zach.  There is just something about that guy that I’m not buying.  They each appear to have interesting pasts they bring to the table, so this visit should explain more.

As for Bennett and Noah going home, along with her skipping the cocktail party, smart move. At this point in the show, there is no need for the cocktail parties as that 10 – 15 minutes with each guy isn’t going to swing the tide at this point.  Bennett and Noah have served their purpose for the inter contestant drama, now it is time to move on.

Action: The hometown date with Brendan

Reaction: As a father of two cute little girls, it means a lot to see how people interact with them.  Do they ignore them, do they make an effort to get to know them?  How they react to the person means just as much.  I thought it was a good sign for Brendan with how quickly Tayshia clicked with his niece.  Now, how will she do at bedtime and homework time, may be a different story. Overall a good day and a good sign for Brendan moving forward.

Action: Ivan The Underdog no more!

Reaction:  Call me crazy, but Ivan may have just punched his ticket to the finals based on his family alone.  They were great and I can totally respect the food connection as well.  As someone with a close relationship with his own brother and father, it was great to see the connection he had with them.  She even said, “that’s the kind of family I want to be a part of”.  Trust me, that is big!

Action: She meets Zach’s family

Reaction: This was not a true representation of New York.  Yes, they have bagels but it is also one of the angriest cities in America.  Her soft demeanor and great personality will not fly well in New York.  Yes, she makes Zach smile, but I’m still not feeling this and even his parents made me feel uncomfortable.

Action: Ben has the best hometown date, but then goes home.

Reaction: This was sad as he had the final rose in his grasp tonight but couldn’t say those three magic words and she sent him home.  I’m not sure if it was the rough childhood, the military or what the case, but he just couldn’t get all of his feelings out and that was it.  It didn’t seem to hit him until it was too late and he was in the SUV heading home.

But, have we seen the last of Ben?  I don’t think so….
