The 10 Greatest Shows Ever

The Simpsons

The first 9 seasons were pure gold, the last 23 have been pure crap.  I cannot explain it but the first 9 seasons were so good and original, that there was no way this couldn’t be placed on the list.  Homer Simpson is the most iconic cartoon father of all time, sorry Fred Flintstone!

Between the humble and loyal house wife Marge, to the obnoxious father / oaf Homer Simpson, it had that classic American Family feel to it at times. While far from my family, it did resemble a few I knew over the years.

The early years of the series were so good, you lost track of the fact that you were not watching a cartoon.  It really wasn’t a cartoon and characters like Bart Simpson created one catchphrase after another. Lisa was the brainy sister and Maggie was the cute baby who never got any older.

No offense to Homer or Bart, but the best characters on this show were all off the side ones.  I loved Mr. Burns, Moe the Bartender and Chief Wiggum just to name a few. You had the crooked mayor in Diamond Joe Quimby, the sleazy child star in Krusty the Clown and the bible thumping neighbor in Ned Flanders.  All in all, this show produced well over 100 side characters, it just worked!

What killed it was the switch to extreme liberalism.  Once they went down that road, the show was never good again and politics ruined it quite frankly.
