Talyssa Moody has returned to the Berea-Midpark Lady Titans for her senior season as a student athlete. Her return comes after a year playing with Cuyahoga Heights. It comes at the perfect time as the Titans have been ravaged by injuries to some of their top stars from last season. She had her biggest game of the young season this past Wednesday night against Elyria when she scored 22 points and lit it up from long range to the tune of 18 points alone from long range.
“It was my home, and I wanted to end my senior season here playing basketball with the girls I grew up with”, said Moody on her decision to come back and finish her High School Career as a Titan.
It has been baptism by fire as the Titans have already played three of the top teams in the area with their games against Olmsted Falls, Magnificat and North Ridgeville with a date against Hoban coming up this Sunday. Moody spoke to the level of the competition thus far, and how it has helped, “The intensity of the games has helped us all get better each game because of the challenge each time”.
With injuries to Lantow and Braaten, the Titans have leaned on Moody to step it up in the scoring department, she spoke to this as well, “Losing that kind of talent hurt us, but as a team we are trying to figure out how to step up and figure it out. Coach McNamara has helped me trying to do more then just being a shooter. We are trying to figure it out as a team. “
One of the biggest weapons the Titans have is four year starting guard Lauren Yee to go with Moody. Yee, is one of the top players in the area, and the Titans are hoping this dynamic duo can lead them to several victories this season, “It’s been good being back with Lauren. It has been good vibes and she does a really good job getting everyone the ball. “
Moody will be continuing her student athlete career next fall at Simmons College in Kentucky. The Titans next play this Sunday, at Hoban at 5:45
