The up and down play of Baker Mayfield
Baker started the game going 7 of 15 for 112 yards in the first half. He took a sack and also missed several wide-open receivers in the end zone. How much longer can we use weather as an excuse when he has had three seasons to adjust to it. Once again, he had his best passes and connections with Landry, Hodge and Higgins while rolling out.
He started the second half by getting sacked and losing the ball. That turnover would lead to instant points for the Eagles on a Carso Wentz to Richard Rodgers touchdown hook up from 19 yards out on the very first play of the drive.
Baker bounced back on the next drive, finding KhaDarel Hodge for 42 yards on a rollout pass. Earlier in the game he hit Hollywood Higgins for a 43-yard connection to boost a drive. He has shown flashes this year and needs to be more consistent with that.
Mayfield would finish by going 12 of 22 on the day, with 0 touchdown tosses but also zero picks. He made some great passes on the run across his body, and missed some easy ones too. After throwing 5 touchdown passes in Cincinnati, he has thrown zero since.
