The defense of the Cleveland Browns is getting better and giving them a chance to win.
The first half produced the only half of football in the entire NFL not to see an offensive touchdown or field goal this year. The offenses combined for zero points as the only points came from a Sione Takitaki pick six of Carson Wentz.
In the first half alone, the defense caused a fumble near the goal line with the Eagles driving and also had the big pick six. They also managed to sack Carson Wentz three times. It was the third straight game in which they didn’t allow a touchdown in the first half, and also the second straight first half in which they didn’t allow any points. The defense is coming out strong and giving them a chance to win.
For the game they held Carson Wentz to 235 yards while picking him off twice, and causing a fumble. They also sacked Wentz 5 times. Without Myles Garrett, someone had to step up and Olivier Vernon did with 3 sacks and a pass deflection. Denzel Ward also had a big day with a big interception late and just an all-around solid day. The dark spot was Mack Wilson who got burned several times however.
