Canton, Ohio – The St. Vincent St. Mary Fighting Irish advanced to the regional final with an 82-43 blowout win over Youngstown Chaney.
Despite a slow start, it didn’t take long for the Irish to get going.
PJ Waller had five points for the Cowboys, as they took an early lead. A Ramar Pryor layup at the end of the first quarter gave St. V the lead, 13-12, after one.
The Irish never lost the lead from that point forward. In fact, they started the second quarter on a 13-2 run, increasing the lead to 25-14. From there, they managed to maintain their lead, eventually pushing it to 34-23 at the halftime break.
Ramar Pryor had 12 points in the second quarter, and Sencire Harris had six, including a couple of impressive slams. The Irish also forced multiple Chaney turnovers and converted them into buckets.
In the second half, the Irish did not let up, padding their lead, forcing turnovers, and knocking down shot after shot.
Eventually the lead grew to over 30 points, triggering a running clock in the fourth quarter.
Senior forward and Cleveland State commit Ramar Pryor had 27 points for the Irish. Illinois commit and senior forward Sencire Harris had 16 points.
St. Vincent St. Mary (22-4) advances to play Louisville, who defeated Glenville, 90-86 in their regional semifinal.
Youngstown Chaney ends their season at 18-9. The Cowboys were led by Josiah Gonzalez’ 13 points, followed by Damari McDowell’s 12. Junior forward Jason Hewlett had ten.
