Super Weekend for Lorain County Leviathan as Club Signs Three Nationally Ranked Players

LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio — It was a statement weekend for Lorain County Leviathan.

The club added three nationally ranked players from three different corners of the soccer world, underscoring that Lorain County is quickly becoming a destination for elite talent. From the ACC to the Congo to the East Coast, the message is clear: the floodgates are open.

Nolan Spicer – Midfielder | Bay Village, Ohio | Notre Dame
Headlining the weekend is Nolan Spicer, a top-10 Notre Dame midfielder and one of the most accomplished players in the ACC. A Bay Village native and St. Ignatius High School product, Spicer has been nationally ranked and recognized as one of the conference’s top performers, earning All-ACC honors while competing at the highest level of college soccer.

A dynamic, two-way midfielder with elite soccer IQ, Spicer brings composure, leadership, and championship pedigree to Lorain County. His signing represents a full-circle moment as a Northeast Ohio standout returns home after proving himself on one of the biggest stages in the country. Ranked as one of the top box to box midfielders in many MLS draft prognostications.

Espoir Mayele – Forward | DR Congo /
The Leviathan didn’t stop there.

From Central Africa, the club secured the commitment of Espoir Mayele, a foreign-born attacker from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and one of the most dangerous offensive threats in college soccer. Known for his pace, physicality, and relentless attacking mentality, Mayele has consistently terrorized back lines and brings a global edge to the Leviathan front line.

His journey—from the Congo to the U.S. college game to Lorain County—embodies the club’s growing international pull and belief that world-class stories and world-class talent can converge right here.

Henry Kang – Midfielder | Manhattan, New York | Bryant University
The weekend closed with a major East Coast commitment as Henry Kang, a Manhattan-born midfielder and top-10 performer at Bryant University, chose Lorain County over the bright lights and big-city comfort of the East Coast.

Coming from the heart of New York City and competing at a high level in the Northeast, Kang brings technical quality, versatility, and a fearless edge. He’s leaving the city and the spotlight to hone his craft alongside elite players from around the world now converging on Lorain County at an absurd level of talent. Henry has star power and a dynamic personality that will win over teammates and the crowd.

Coach Blake New on the Momentum
“We’re going to need more balls on the field,” said Head Coach Blake New. “The quality, the pace, the competition—every session is going to have game-level energy. That’s exactly what we want. Players are going to be pushing each other, and that’s how you build something special.”

Chairman Andrew McDonnell on a Weekend to Remember
Chairman Andrew McDonnell summed it up best:

“I need some water. The signings over the last two weeks opened the floodgates. All the top players want to be here. My phone spent the entire weekend at five percent battery while we got all these guys signed and on board. The county is going to be proud of what’s coming.”

With elite local roots, national recognition, and international flair now wearing the crest, Lorain County Leviathan isn’t just building a roster—they’re building momentum, belief, and something the entire county can rally behind.

And this was just one weekend.
