The Olmsted Falls Bulldogs took on the Brunswick Blue Devils in the first game of the Super Tuesday doubleheader at Elyria Catholic High School. After a close first quarter, the Bulldogs pulled away and ended up advancing with a 51-26 win.

Both teams came out playing great defense early on, which led to a lot of turnovers. The first points of the game weren’t scored until almost three minutes in when Journey Hildenbrand hit a deep three for the Blue Devils. Hildenbrand, a Kent State commit, scored ten first quarter points. However, that was not enough for the lead. A late first quarter layup from Maddie Cerovec gave Olmsted Falls a 13-12 lead.

The Bulldogs started the second quarter on a 11-0 run. Cerovec scored 6 of those points and the run was capped off by a corner three from Avery DeLisio to make it 24-12. Journey Hildenbrand ended the scoring drought for the Blue Devils with a pair of free throws. The Bulldogs took a 27-14 lead going into halftime. Cerovec led Olmsted Falls with 11 points in the first half, while Hildenbrand led Brunswick with 12.

The third quarter was also dominated by the Bulldogs. This time it was a 12-0 run, highlighted by 8 points from Danielle Cameron. The Bulldogs lead grew all the way to 39-14. Back-to-back Blue Devils baskets put the score at 39-18 through three quarters.

Brunswick would continue to slowly trim the deficit after two baskets from Kylie Deighton. Jesse Simon then scored 6 straight points for Olmsted Falls to make the score 45-22. The Bulldogs were victorious by a final score of 51-26.

It was a balanced scoring effort by the Bulldogs, as three players for them finished with double digit points. Cerovac and Simon led the team with 13 each, while Cameron finished with 12. Journey Hildenbrand led the Blue Devils with 16 points.

After the game Olmsted Falls coach Jordan Eaton said having multiple scoring options makes his team “tough to prepare for”. He added “we had three that got double figures, but we’ve had six different kids this year score double figures, maybe even more.”
