PARMA, OH – Magnificat and Westlake kicked things off on Super Tuesday at Valley Forge with a convincing Blue Streak victory.

The Blue Streaks started off with tough defense and a 10-point lead despite taking some time to get the offense heated up. Westlake played inspired defense in the half court. Their lack of care for the ball on offense resulted in transition chances for the streaks. “total team effort… defense is our identity” said coach Daniel Gallagher about their defensive effort. This gave Magnificat open layups at the basket and three-point chances.

The first quarter ended at a score of 11-2 in favor of Magnificat. The second half saw the Streaks jump out to a marginal lead as the Demons offense continued to have its issues. Katie Maryo and Sofia Wilson dominated on offense with 12 and 10 points respectively to build a solid lead against Westlake.

The second half remained more than the same for both squads. Westlake had a hard time getting a flow on offense and getting off clean shots. Every shot the Demons took was highly contested and would result in a transition bucket for the Blue Streaks as they continued to build upon their lead.

As the third half continued a running clock took place, in ways it signified the theme of this game and how one sided this matchup was. Magnificat will play the winner of Mentor and Louisville to determine who will come out of the North East 4 side of the bracket. “Don’t lose that focus… with the schedule we have we need to be prepared” said coach Daniel Gallagher about the mindset going to the next round.

Vince McKee and Maggie McKee will be on the coverage of their championship game this Friday night back at Valley Forge.
