Strongsville Mustangs Defeat the Brunswick Blue Devils in Rivalry Matchup

Strongsville, OH – This game was a back in forth battle that resulted in a Strongsville 51-41 win over Brunswick in a rivalry matchup. This exciting game was full of big-time shots and big scoring runs. There is no doubt this meeting of the two rivals lived up to the hype.

 

For the Mustangs Sidney Butera had a dominant performance with 25 points while lighting it up from deep with 4 three pointers. Rosalynda Jordan was also a major contributor with 12 points of her own in key moments for the Mustangs.

 

The Blue Devils lead scorer was Aubrey Hayes with 14 points and some major shots to keep them in the game. Also contributing with some key buckets for the Blue Devils were Bri Sigmund and Cam Sheets. Sheets ended with 8 points and Sigmund had 7.

 

In the first quarter the Mustangs come out hot with 8 unanswered points. The Blue Devils would show some fight at the end of the quarter making the score 15-6 Mustangs on top going into the second. Sidney Butera scored 7 points in the first leading the Mustangs charge over the Blue Devils.

 

The second quarter was the exact opposite of the first with the Blue Devils dominating. They outscored the Mustangs 19-7 in this quarter refusing to lay down. Their strong defensive effort and scoring gave them a 25-22 lead going into the half. Aubrey Hayes led the second quarter comeback with 6 points and a deep 3-point buzzer beater to end the half. Cam Sheets also provided scoring support with 5 points in this quarter and some key shots.

 

In the third quarter the Mustangs retook the lead going up 37-31. Sidney Butera hit two major 3 pointers to swing the momentum back to the Mustangs. This quarter was very back and forth with a strong defensive presence from both sides. Going into the fourth either team could go on a run to win the game.

 

In the fourth quarter the Blue Devils came out strong. Quickly they tied the game at 37 points apiece. However, Rosalynda Jordan and Sidney Butera’s efforts for the Mustangs spoiled the Blue Devils comeback plans. Jordan put up a crucial 5 points and Sidney Butera would cap off her big scoring day with another 7 points. This would prove to be enough for Strongsville to win 51-41.
