Denny Ziegler has departed his role as Strongsville athletic director to take over the same position at Walsh Jesuit. Ziegler had been with the Mustangs since January of 2019. While in Strongsville, the Mustangs saw a bit of a resurgence in several sports. Their girls Soccer team won the DIV 1 State Championship in 2020 . Their girls basketball team was extremely good last year and reached the Regional Semifinals where they lost to Magnificat. Their football team under first year head coach Jason Trusnik went 7-5 and made it to the second round of the playoffs last year as well.
The Mustang nation had a lot to boast about with Ziegler. Strongsville was also the neutral site chosen of several OHSAA Playoff games in Football over the last 5 years as well. Ziegler will have some large shoes to fill as the prior AD Mark Hassman has been with the school for three decades. While Walsh saw a great deal of success in softball and girls soccer, the most recent flash of excitement came last year with a remarkable run by their varsity football team that challenged for a Division II State Championship. Star quarterback Keller Moten led the Warriors to a 13-0 record before getting knocked out by Akron Hoban in the State Elite Eight.
Their boys basketball program has a bit of royalty involved in it as well, with Sean Flannery, son of the legendary Eric Flannery leading the program.
All in all, Ziegler saw much success in Strongsville and is set up nicely to continue that at Walsh Jesuit.
