Stow tops Hawken in regular season finale, 9-4

Stow, Ohio – The Stow Bulldogs topped visiting Hawken, 9-4, in the regular season finale for both teams.

It was a scoreless battle for the first portion of the first half, as both teams played impressively on defense. Stow struck first with a goal from senior Kelsey Kramer at the 15:08 mark in the first half. Kent State lacrosse commit Kenzie Gash followed with a goal of her own to increase the score to 2-0. Gash scored her second goal of the game off an assist from Jada Manion to increase the Bulldog lead to 3-0 with 9:02 left in the first half.

Hawken senior captain Sabina Strauteniks won the ensuing faceoff and scored to put Hawken on the board moments later. At the 7:20 mark, Amber Shinsky (Rider lacrosse commit) scored, making the score 4-1 in favor of Stow.

Senior Kate Milbourn scored the second goal for Hawken with 2:14 left to make the score 4-2 at the half.

Six minutes into the second half, Kylie Kramer scored for Stow, increasing the Bulldog lead to 5-2. Kenzie Gash added her third goal, making the score 6-2.

After a timeout, Hawken scored a pair of goals in succession. Elle Oberfield scored her second goal of the game to cut the Hawk deficit to 6-3. Sabina Strauteniks followed with a goal 25 seconds later to make the score 6-4.

Less than 30 seconds later, Kenzie Gash found the back of the net for the fourth time Thursday night. Amber Shinsky and Kelsey Cramer each added their second goals for the final margin.

Stow finishes the regular season at 13-3. The Bulldogs will host Lakewood to open up postseason play in Division 1, Region 1 on Monday, May 15th.

Hawken finishes their season at 8-6. The Hawks will host NDCL to open up postseason play in Division 2, Region 5 on Thursday, May 18th. Seniors Elle Oberfield and Sabina Strauteniks each scored twice for the Hawks. Junior goalie Olivia Vitantonio hit a pair of milestones Thursday night as well, making her 100th save of the season and 350th save of her career.
