Steven A. Wagoner Elected as Chairman of the NPSL
The National Premier Soccer League is proud to announce that Steven A. Wagoner has been elected as chairman of the league, following the resignation of Kenneth Farrell. The league thanks Kenneth Farrell for his time and service to the NPSL.
“The NPSL has a proud history as one of the largest and most influential platforms for adult soccer in the United States,” Wagoner said. “The league’s core strength has always been its clubs, and we remain committed to supporting them as the game enters its next stage of growth.”
Wagoner has been involved in the NPSL since 2013, first with D.C. United U23 NPSL and currently with Virginia Beach City FC in the league’s Mid-Atlantic Conference. He has been a member of the Board of Directors for the past decade as regional board member, corporate treasurer, and now as the chairman of the board.
Outside of his work with the league, Wagoner brings extensive experience in investment management, business development, and sports operations.
Wagoner is the founder of America Investment Management, a private asset management and advisory firm focused on opportunities across sports & entertainment and real estate. In 2010, Wagoner co-founded Nexus Street, a niche business development services firm, where he continues to serve as an executive board member. Nexus Street has assisted federal government contracting clients in winning significant contract awards and achieving revenue growth.
Wagoner is also the founder of the Major League Development Association (MLDA), a sport management firm that operates men’s and women’s soccer clubs and oversees pre-professional academy and youth development programs. He holds a U.S. Soccer Federation B License and a United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma.
Wagoner also holds a M.S. in Finance, summa cum laude, from the Raymond A. Mason School of Business at the College of William & Mary and a B.S. from George Mason University. He has completed executive education programs in Alternative Investments from Harvard Business School and Corporate Finance from the Raymond A. Mason School of Business. He serves on the advisory board of George Mason University’s College of Education and Human Development.
Previously, as co-founder and managing partner of Trade Atlantic, LLC, Wagoner led investments in multi-unit retail developments and franchise operations in the Washington D.C. Metro area, resulting in a successful asset sale in December 2022.
