The St. Edward Eagles (10-0) hosted the Euclid Panthers (9-2) Friday night at Brunswick Auto Mall Stadium. On a cold Region 1 Semifinal matchup, the Eagles showed out.
The game started off with a glimmer of hope as the Panther took a 3-0 lead, but it was only a matter of time before the Eagles flexed their muscles.
Joe Formani of the Eagles rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown in the 1st half. He had an explosive 50 yard run that was able to get the Eagles going. After that, the Panthers weren’t able to keep up.
Connor O’Malley threw for five touchdowns to four different receivers, two thrown to Montorie Foster. If O’Malley wasn’t enough to handle the Eagles defensive front seven was dominate all night.
Dion Valentine, the Euclid QB tried his best to put up a good fight, but the Eagles were just on a different level. After finding Javon Colvin for a 24 yard touchdown pass, the Eagles slammed the door shut. The Panthers weren’t able to score another point on the night.
St. Edwards ended up with a dominate victory with the score of 47-9. They improve to 11-1 and will have a week one rematch against the Mentor Cardinals next week. The Euclid Panthers finish a stellar 9-3 on the season.
