St. Edwards Eagles vs Lorain Titans

1st Quarter

This game started off with the Eagles receiving the ball first and setting the tone quickly with a 96-yard kickoff return by Kyan Mason. St. Edward 7, Lorain 0.

After giving up the touchdown in the first 10 seconds of the game, Lorain conventionally went three and out on their first drive. But, they received some good fortune when the Eagles fumbled the punt return giving the ball back to the Titans on their own 41-yard line.

Unfortunately, Lorain could not get a first down and was forced to punt the ball again. With more bad luck on their side, the Titans miss snapped the ball and the Eagles recovered the ball at the Titan’s 8-yard line. It only took one play for St. Edward to score their second touchdown on an 8-yard Danny Enovitch run. St. Edward 14, Lorain 0.

After receiving the kickoff, the Titans once again went three and out and had to punt the ball. The Eagles used only a few minutes and 4 plays to move from their 35-yard line to the endzone to add to their score behind a 1-yard touchdown run by Enovitch. St. Edward 21, Lorain 0.

Lorain, now down three touchdowns and 5 minutes left in the first quarter, started to mount some positive plays before they turned the ball over on an interception at the St. Edward’s 30-yard line This allowed the Eagles to march down the field with their backup quarterback and score on a 9 yard run by Josh Gribble. St. Edward 28, Lorain 0.

Lorain received the kickoff and ended the first quarter with getting their first 1st down of the game on a personal foul penalty.

2nd Quarter

The Titans looking to build on that first down, came up 1 yard short of getting their second 1st down and elected to punt the ball back to the Eagles. At the 10:20 mark, St. Edward failed to gain a first down for the first time and punted the ball to the Titans. With just over 9 minutes left in the half, Lorain started their drive on their own 20-yard line. Looking to put something on the scoreboard, the Titans used 3 plays to move the sticks and continue their drive to their own 30-yard line. Unfortunately, Lorain’s drive stalled at their 39-yard line, and they turned the ball over on downs at the 4:55 mark. The Eagles, with a very short field, used three plays to reach pay dirt and extend their lead on a 10-yard run from Casey Bullock. St. Edward 35, Lorain 0.

With 3:35 left in the second quarter, Lorain found themselves starting their next drive at their own 17-yard line and just like their earlier drives, the Titans went three and out. The Eagles, benefiting from another short field, moved the ball on the ground once again and just like their earlier drives; they scored their 6th touchdown on a 2-yard pass from Garrett Rotz to Grady Lentz-Pieffer to close out the first half. St. Edward 42, Lorain 0.

3rd Quarter (Running Clock Starts)

Lorain started the second half off with the ball at their 19-yard line and they went three and out on this drive, punting the ball to St. Edward at the 8:31 mark. After a few penalties, the Eagles started moving the ball positively and used up most of the running clock on their drive. Using mostly third string players, St. Edward kept the ball on the ground, which didn’t allow the Titans to get the ball back in this quarter and the Eagles went into the 4th with the ball on the Titan’s 6-yard line.

4th quarter (Running Clock Continues)

The Eagles started this final quarter with the ball on the Titans 6-yard line and they were eyeing the endzone, but unfortunately St. Edward fumbled the snap and Lorain recovered the ball on their own side of the field.

The Titans tried to muster up some positive plays, but they were unable to get a 1st down and they also muffed the punt, which gave the Eagles the ball at the Titans 17-yard line. St. Edward used only one play to score another touchdown on a 17-yard run up the middle by Joshua Groudle. St. Edward 49, Lorain 0.

The Titans hoping not to be held scoreless in this game, moved the ball up the field on the younger Eagles now inserted in the game. But just as the starters had managed to stop the Titans from advancing over the 50-yard line; the St. Edward third stringers were able to force Lorain to punt the ball at their own 44-yard line at the 2:36 mark. The Eagles just looking to put an end to this game, started their drive at their own 11-yard line and after running four plays, the clock ran out on the game.
