The St. Ed’s Eagles (1st Seed) welcomed the underdog Canton Mckinley Bulldogs (4th seed) to Byers field for the Reginal Semi-final on a crisp Autumn night. It was the St. Ed’s Eagles who took the win at Byers field in a dominate 1st half performance from the Eagles. Canton McKinley gave a good effort throughout the game as they ended the scoreless streak held by the Eagles defense throughout the playoffs.
The St. Ed’s Offense took the field to start the game and made their presence known with a deadly run game from Brandon White. White looked unstoppable for the Eagles behind his offensive line averaging over nine yards per carry. The run game carried the Eagles to the 11 yard, it was Thomas Csanyi who connected with his favorite option, Brian Sullivan for a touchdown.
After both teams stalled out on offense Ed’s got back to their run first offense led by White. The Eagles worked with a short field after a fumbled punt and went right back to work at the start of the second quarter. White earned his first touchdown on the day from 13 yards out giving
Mckinley responded with the best drive of the game for the Bulldogs. They pushed the Eagles on their heels and entered the redzone for the first time against Eds. Keaton Rode, the QB and the kicker made the field goal attempt. This attempt to keep the game close would not last for long.
With five minutes left in the first half the Eagles scored three more times, this offensive attack from air, land, and sea left the Bulldogs at the will of the St. Ed’s offense. The half would end with a 34 to three lead, momentum would only continue in favor of the Eagles.
The second half started off with Canton Mckinley driving down the field with a running clock not in their favor. Their impressive drive ended with a fumble recovered by the Eagles.
The Eagles fed the ball to White once again, punching it in for another Ed’s touchdown to put a candle on it. The Eagles dominated this game from top to bottom despite Mckinley putting up a fight with a late score.
