Shippensburg took their undefeated record on the road to play West Perry. This game was a tale of two halves. West Perry would start with the ball on their 23 yard line. They would not gain any yards on their first drive and were forced to punt quickly.

Shippensburg quickly faced a 3rd down but QB Tucker Chamberlain linked up with Anthony Smith for a huge 1st down conversion and a huge momentum builder. The offensive focus would then switch to the running game where Shippensburg thrives.  Amari Kerr broke off a first-down run. Followed by everyone’s favorite fullback Diesel Koser getting the ball for a 6 yard gain. This got them rolling and not even a 10-yard penalty would slow them down as Nathan Beam would get loose for large gain on the ground. The drive would end with Smith punching it in from the 1-yard line. The PAT was missed, Shippensburg would lead 6-0.

On the ensuing drive, West Perry would fumble and Shippensburg fell on it, giving them great position. However, Shippensburg would give it right back losing a fumble of their own.

Following the fumble exchanges, West Perry would take over on offense. On the first play, they had a huge 87 yard TD completion. QB Marcus Quaker would hit Ian Goodling in stride and he did the rest. The PAT was good and West Perry lead 7-6.

West Perry’s kickoff would go out of bounds giving Shippensburg great field position at the 40. Shippensburg would pick up the first down and that would bring us to the end of 1, with West Perry leading 7-6.

Shippensburg would put the ball on the deck twice on this drive but they were able to recover it both times. However, the 3rd time was the charm for West Perry as they would finally recover one of the loose balls. That electric QB- WR connection would show up again as Quaker hit Goodling again for a 55 yard TD reception. 14-6 West Perry.

A short kickoff gave Shippensburg great field position at the West Perry 30. They would capitalize on this field position. With Chamberlain running it in himself from about 10 yards out. They went for 2 and were unable to get it. 14-12 West Perry.

West Perry would be stifled on the drive with Anthony Smith getting a huge 3rd down sack to force West Perry to punt out of their own endzone.

Shippensburg took over inside the 50. They would face a false start penalty. On the very next play, Traevon Kater would take the handoff 53 yards to the house. This time Shippensburg converted on the 2 point conversion. 14-20 Shippensburg. This would be the score going into the locker rooms.

The locker room talk for Shippensburg worked wonders as they looked like a different team in this half. The first drive of the half would be exclusively handoffs as the O-line was creating gaps and the RBs were hitting them. Eventually, it would be Kater running it in. They would gain convert the 2 pointer giving them the 14-28 lead.

On the next drive, West Perry would draw a Pass interference penalty. However, they would be unable to capitalize as Shippensburg would recover another fumble. Giving them the ball at midfield. Almost immediately after recovering the fumble, Amari Kerr broke off a 45 yard TD run, 35-14 Shippensburg.

West Perry’s turnover problems would persist as Carter Foust pulled off a pick 6. Giving Shippensburg the 42-14 lead. West Perry seemed to gain some momentum converting a 4th down attempt, but the drive would just stall a few plays later turning it over on downs. This would end the 3rd quarter with the score 42-14 Shippensburg.

Shippensburg took over at the 12. Seeming wanted to prove that they could damage through the air as well Chamberlain linked up with Erby Weller for a 70 yard gain. Jay’saun Gonzalez would get the credit for the TD but the O-line would push the pile into the endzone. West Perry would actually block the PAT attempt, keeping it at  48-14.

West Perry would commit one more turnover this time Connor Landreth picked off the pass. Shippensburg would just run out the clock, after bringing on the second unit. Giving them a dominant 2nd half victory 48-14.

The player of the game goes to Amari Kerr breaking off two 40+ yard TD runs is just something that doesn’t happen every day. We also need to give some love to the offensive line of Shippensburg as they were put forth a dominant performance.
