Second Quarter Surge Ignites North Ridgeville to Win Over Elyria

North Ridgeville, OH — The North Ridgeville Lady Rangers used a second-quarter surge on
their way to a 61-26 victory Wednesday night on their home court.

The Lady Rangers started off the game with a 10-0 run and held a lead as big as 13-2 early on,
thanks to contributions from the scoring trio of Brooke Schroeder, Mary Strippy, and Reyna
Balderas. The Lady Pioneers were down, but not out. A three-point basket from senior Kyrah
Boddy sparked a 7-0 run to trim the North Ridgeville lead to 13-9 toward the end of the first
quarter. North Ridgeville answered with four points of their own to take a 17-9 lead into the
second quarter.

The Lady Rangers opened the second quarter with another 10-0 run, which was finally stopped
by a free throw from Elyria’s Kam Scott. North Ridgeville poured it on from there, as five
different players found the scoresheet—including junior Lauryn Bohannon, who scored all eight
of her points in the second quarter. Together, the Lady Rangers outscored the Lady Pioneers
24-10 in the quarter to take a 41-19 lead into halftime.

In the second half, North Ridgeville continued to control the game, outscoring Elyria 20-7.
Schroeder, who set the tone early for the Lady Rangers, scored 11 of her game-high 21 points
in the second half, including nine in the third quarter alone. North Ridgeville closed out the game
strong, winning 61-26.

With the win, North Ridgeville improves to an impressive 8-2 on the season (3-2 in the
Southwestern Conference). They’ll look to continue their winning ways when they travel to North
Olmsted on Tuesday to take on the Lady Eagles.

With the loss, Elyria falls to 1-5 on the season (0-4 in the Southwestern Conference). They’ll
look to secure their first conference win of the season on Saturday when they host the Avon
Lake Shoregals.
