CLEVELAND, OH – This past Saturday, the St. Ignatius wildcats wrapped up their 2025 regular season with a 2-1 win over, Dublin Jerome at Krenzler Field.   A very physical battle on Saturday afternoon with few chances for either team early on. The Dublin Jerome Celtics took an early lead when Dylan Cavanaugh powerful shot from outside the area beat Ignatius’ keeper Johnny Mulloy.

Not long after the Celtics goal, the Wildcats were awarded a penalty on a tackle inside the box on Bryce Ince-Lovelace.  Dom Ruggiero cooley converted the spot kick to tie the game up at 1-1.   Five minutes later, the Wildcats took the lead through a well worked set piece. Ince-Lovelace scored on a headed assist by Ruggiero.  First half ended 2-1.

At halftime, St. Ignatius celebrated 50 years of men’s soccer with many alumni be recognized on the field including some of the first Ignatius soccer team from 50 years ago.

The second half began where the first half ended, very physical, with both teams pushing each other and creating chances. The Wildcats moved Ruggiero to center back for additional support with hard work from in the defense and midfield from junior Russell Nank and senior Anthony Ruocco.

St. Ignatius finish the season undefeated and will take on Toledo Whitmer this Wednesday at Krenzler field at 7PM.  We’ll continue our coverage of Wildcats soccer , check out a spotlight article on senior Dom Ruggiero at   https://keeonsports.com/soccer-spotlight-st-ignatius-wildcat-dom-ruggiero/
