Rootstown three-peats in the PTC with 62-29 win over Warren JFK

Rootstown, Ohio – The Rootstown Rovers dominated from start-to-finish en route to a 62-29 victory over visiting Warren JFK.

Rootstown jumped out to a 16-1 lead, thanks in part to the efforts of Nadia Lough, who had nine points in the first quarter and was a force on the inside. Warren JFK cut their deficit to ten, as Ava Darney had five points and a blocked shot in the stanza, but that was as close as they got.

Colbie Curall sank a pair of technical foul free throws, and senior Abby White hit a buzzer-beater to push the Rover lead to 23-9.

The Rover offense maintained their hot shooting, as they further expanded their lead in the second quarter. Lough added 13 more points for 22 total in the first half, and the Rovers led, 48-17, at the break.

Additionally, the defense also played a big part, forcing multiple turnovers and pressuring Warren JFK all evening.

Junior forward Nadia Lough finished with 28 points, followed by sophomore guard Colbie Curall with 13. The Rovers finish the regular season 20-2 and undefeated in the Portage Trail Conference. They take on Lakeview to open up postseason play on Tuesday, February 21.

Warren JFK moves to 15-6 and finishes 6-2 in the Portage Trail Conference. Freshman guard Didi Ryan finished with 11 points. The Eagles host Leetonia to open up postseason play on Tuesday, February 21.
