WESTLAKE, OHIO – Tommy Beebie rebounded from only 3 carries for 12 yards in the first half, to blast for 161 yards on 16 carries with 3 touchdowns by the end of the night. Beebie took things over and turned a 7-6 halftime deficit into a 41-14 blowout by the end of the night.
Westlake held a narrow 1-point lead at the break, despite having the ball for over 75% of the first half snaps. They had two promising drives cut short as Travis Monken struggled, throwing two interceptions in the first half. One of which was returned 67 yards by James Bile for the Rocky River Pirate touchdown.
The Demons got their lone score of the half on a 4-yard touchdown run by Connor Gregory. He would score again in the second half and finish the night with 53 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns. Gregory was consistent all night and split the player of game honors with Beebie.
Westlake transfer quarterback Monken had a night he would like to forget, tossing for 195 yards on 13 of 27 passing. However, he had zero touchdowns passes and three costly interceptions. His best receivers were Dylan Bednar with 85 yards on 7 catches while Austin Norris had 69 yards on 6 catches.
Braedon Spies of River tossed for 144 yards on 8 of 21 passing with his biggest target being a 71-yard touchdown strike to Christian Dean.
Down 7-6 at the halftime, the Pirates came out of the locker room blazing to start the second half. Thomas Beebie had 3 touchdown runs in the third quarter of 4, 46 and 7 yards to build a 27-14 lead entering the fourth.
The prior mentioned touchdown launch to Dean along with a 20 yard pick six by Owen Beebie finished the scoring at 41-14.
