River Grounds Avon 46-37

On February 12th, 2026, the Rocky River Pirates Girls Basketball team faced the Avon
Eagles resulting in a Pirate victory, 46-37.

The game started off strong as Avon won the tip off and drove the ball downcourt. Both
teams seemed to be at a standstill, as the Pirates defense locked down the basket.
Eventually, Alaina Pagan broke through the defensive wall with 2 points for the Eagles,
followed by a basket from her teammate, Ava Mitchell.

Avon’s defense was impeccable in the first quarter, but it wasn’t quite enough to stop Rocky River’s Olivia Dewey and Nora
Bruder from scoring. The quarter ended with baskets from the Eagles’ Alaina Pagan and
Sophia Sharp, with a score of 11-7, Avon Eagles.

The second quarter started off on a much better note for the Pirates, as Elizabeth Lang
immediately made a basket. Sophia Sharp followed this basket with her own for Avon.
Nora Bruder and Claudia Roche then went back to back with 3-pointers for the Pirates.

Both teams’ defensive games were on point during the second quarter, and not many
baskets were let through. The half ended with baskets from Avon’s Chloe Collins, and
Rocky River’s Nora Bruder and Elizabeth Lang.

The second half started off with, yet another, 2-point shot from Elizabeth Lang of Rocky
River, and another basket from Claudia Roche. Avon’s Sophia Sharp made another basket,
followed by her teammates Alaina Pagan and Abby Owens. The quarter ended with baskets
from Nora Bruder and Elizabeth Lang for Rocky River, and a score of 28-22, Pirates.

The fourth quarter truly displayed both teams’ heart and soul for the game. Each player
was clearly committed to helping their team win, as the lead was typically only by a few
points. Ultimately, the game ended with a score of 46-37, Pirates victory.

The top scorers for Rocky River were Olivia Dewey, Nora Bruder, Elizabeth Lang, and
Claudia Roche. The top scorers for Avon were Alaina Pagan, Ava Mitchell, and Sophia
Sharp

  1. Great game by the pirates, team balance and great performance, Avon hung in there. They are not a 8-14 team that’s for sure good luck in the playoffs
