With the WWE set to have a PPV this Sunday night, “NXT Vengeance Day”, it is only right that we take a look back at perhaps the best ever PPV held on Valentines Day.  It was WWF St. Valentines Day Massacre held on February 14, 1999 in the heart of the Attitude Era.  The pre-lude to WrestleMania XV turned out to be one hell of a show.

The first half of the double main event featured a knock down drag out Last Man Standing match as The Rock challenged for Mankinds WWF Championship.  It was too brutal to decide a winner and wound up becoming a double count out as neither man would answer the bell.

The Rock would have the last laugh the next night  however, as he took the title off Mankind in a ladder match with the help of The Big Show.

Speaking of The Big Show, Paul Wight would show up in the main event during the climax of the Mr. McMahon vs Stone Cold Steve Austin main event cage match.  Wight came up through the ring to attack Austin.  It would backfire on the Corporation however as Wight actually launched Austin through the cage to win the match.

Speaking of the corporation, emotion was off the charts as former DX member Chyna teamed up with Kane to take on HHH and XPAC.  It seemed surreal to see HHH and Chyna on opposites sides of the ring, but it was all a ruse as WrestleMania XV would see HHH jump to the corporation as well.

The WWF Intercontinental Title would change hands as Ken Shamrock dropped the belt to Val Venis in a major upset. Matters were made worse for Shamrock as his sister Ryan helped Venis (the man she was currently sleeping with) defeat the champ by slapping him in the face.

That wasn’t the only title to swap hands as Bob Holly defeated Al Snow in an instant classic.  Their Falls Count Anywhere match would end up in the Mississippi River as Snow nearly drowned.  As corny as it sounds, it was actually a pretty damn good match.  Go back and watch it!

Speaking of championships, Owen Hart and Jeff Jarett seemed to have little issue retaining their Tag Championships as they cruised to a victory over Mark Henry and Dlo Brown.  That effort was helped out by a guitar smash.

Elsewhere on the card, the Blue Meanie was squashed and also kicked in the balls by Goldust in a quick match.  Also winning with ease was The Big Bossman over Mideon and Viscera over Test.
