Record breaking win for Rocky River over Lutheran West 60-22

The Rocky River Pirates came out on top with a dominating performance over the Lutheran West Longhorns tonight. The Pirates came out hot with 8 unanswered points to start the game, and from the get go you could tell who was going to control the game. Lutheran West didn’t stop hustling as they drove the ball very efficiently to the hoop but couldn’t quite seem to be able to make the shots when they needed to.

The Pirates offense didn’t seem like they could miss tonight as they shot the ball extremely well from the three point line, dominating in almost every aspect of the game. Senior Claudia Roche and Junior Nora Bruder were on fire tonight, both with 15 points going into the 2nd half with the score 57-8, with 4 threes for them each.

The Longhorns didn’t give up coming out of halftime with senior Ella Heisner hitting a big three to give them momentum to start, but it did not last long as the Pirates had an answer with Junior Nora Bruder making big shot after big shot. There was great sportsmanship for both teams tonight, and the Longhorns never seemed to back down, they were putting up quality shots but they couldn’t seem to get them to land tonight, as they headed into the 4th quarter with a score of 60-15

You would not be able to talk about this game without mentioning Junior Elizabeth Lang as she dominated the glass tonight as she had all season and set the school record for most rebounds beating the previous one of 253. This was a very special moment for her and the team, as the whole crowd erupted when it happened, she is extremely deserving of this record as whenever there was a missed shot, she grabbed it. She finished the game with 17 points and was a key contributor on both sides of the court.

The Pirates continued to control the 4th quarter although they did not score, they still maintained control of the game, as they finished ahead by a score of 60-22. The Pirates moved to 17-4 and will host Avon this upcoming Thursday, as The Longhorns have moved to 15-6, and will host Fuchs Mizrachi this Thursday as well.
