Ravenna, Ohio – Behind a strong second quarter, the Ravenna Ravens capped off Senior Night with a 34-16 win over visiting Woodridge Friday night.
On the very first series, quarterback Eathan Cobbin set the tone for the evening. He had two long gains that put the Ravens on the doorstep of the end zone.
Ravenna came into Friday night’s game 12th in Division III, Region 9, according to JoeEitel.com.
Woodridge came into Friday night’s game 9th in Division IV, Region 13, according to JoeEitel.com.
However, the Woodridge defense held firm, stopping the Ravens from scoring. Also, it was the Bulldogs’ third game in eight days.
Said Bulldog offense would get to work themselves. Sophomore quarterback Charles Lambes found senior Kamari Mitchell for a long gain. However, they would have to settle for a field goal off the leg of Trey Yanock. Yanock would convert from 23 yards out to put Woodridge up, 3-0.
The Ravens offense marched down the field once again, and looked to put points on the board. However, the Woodridge defense made another stop, and took over after a missed field goal.
After Ravenna made a stop of their own, the Bulldogs punted the ball away. Ian Long would recover a muffed punt and Woodridge took over with a short field.
It didn’t take long for the Bulldogs to take advantage, capping off the drive with a four-yard touchdown run from Owen Snyder. This made the lead 10-0 in favor of Woodridge.
Like the first two drives, the Ravens marched down the field into Woodridge territory. This time, they would convert.
Eathan Cobbin would bob and weave and evade defenders, finding Thurman Treadwell for a 36-yard touchdown reception. This cut the Raven deficit to 10-7 and fired up the home crowd.
After another stop, the Ravens got the ball back with just over two minutes left, looking to add to their lead.
Eathan Cobbin completed a handful of passes, to Philip Barton and M’Kell Williams, to move the Ravens down the field.
Cobbin capped off the drive by finding Philip Barton for a 12-yard touchdown to put Ravenna in front, 14-10, before halftime.
In the third quarter, the Ravens marched down the field once again. Eathan Cobbin, who would convert a pass reception on a fake punt, rushed into the end zone from 15 yards out, increasing the lead to 21-10.
The defense came up with a big play, as Dean Baker picked off a Charles Lambes pass. But the Woodridge defense stopped Ravenna from padding the lead, forcing a four-and-out.
In the fourth quarter, Eathan Cobbin would hit the end zone for the first time on the ground, increasing the lead to 28-10 with 8:42 left.
Woodridge responded when Charles Lambes found Kamari Mitchell for a four-yard touchdown reception. He had seven catches for 134 yards on the evening. Lambes would go 18 of 36 passing for 281 yards through the air for the Bulldogs.
Cobbin rushed for his second touchdown of the game with 2:42 left to cap off the scoring.
Ravenna finishes the regular season at 7-3 overall and 4-2 in the Metro Conference. They await their playoff opponent for next Friday night.
Woodridge finishes the regular season 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the Metro Conference. They await their playoff opponent for next Saturday night.

The senior had a big game Friday night, with 18 carries for 210 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also went 8 of 14 passing for 154 yards and a pair of scores through the air.
