Ranking The Greatest SummerSlams Of All Time

SummerSlam 1989

When you talk about memorable years for SummerSlam, you cannot leave out the 1989 edition.  The main event itself is still spoken about to this day.  It was Hulk Hogan teaming up with his best friend Brutus Beefcake to take on Macho Man Randy Savage and No Holds Barred villain, Zeus.

As expected, Savage carried the workload of the match, and it was filled with plenty of high spots. In the end, it was good over evil with Ms. Elizabeth cutting off the pony tail of Sensational Sherri.

Also on the card was one of the best Intercontinental title matches in PPV history as The Ultimate Warrior reclaimed his belt from Ravishing Rick Rude. It was a dramatic match that saw Rowdy Roddy Piper inject himself to help the painted face assassin.

A hidden gem on this card many forget about it, is the opening bout between the WWF Tag Champions the Brian Busters taking on The Hart Foundation.  A clinic put from Hart and Blanchard in this one.  It is also loaded with Hall of Famers, as a total of 24 appear on this night.  Astonishing!
