The playoffs are a time for unlikely Hero’s to step up. Today in North Ridgeville was one of those times. Kat Crevda who is normally known for her defense and rebounding, stepped up huge with 12 points. It couldn’t have come at a better time, as Grace Kingery was held to one point in the first three quarters before exploding for 13 in the fourth on the way to a 49 -33 win over Elyria to advance in the playoffs.
Daylan Baker continues to put together a nice campaign this season with 9 more today while the always steady Maddy Rosado punched in 10. Miller had 11 to lead Elyria on the day.
A Rosado three ball got the Rangers off to a quick start to begin the game but Elyria hung around and made it interesting. Thanks in part to 7 first quarter points by Miller, the Rangers only led 11-10 after one. The Rangers would pull away a bit in the second quarter however as 7 from Crevda and 4 from Baker in the frame helped build a 24-16 halftime lead.
The Rangers went ice cold in the third quarter however, and allowed Elyria to climb back into the game as Elyria won the quarter 8-7 to cut the lead to 31-24 heading into the fourth. The only two field goals in the quarter from the Rangers came from Baker & Becca Bradley as they struggled to find the net. Payton Palcisko continued to play lock down defense all afternoon however for the Rangers.
Any chance of a major upset was diverted in the fourth quarter however as Grace Kingery found her stroke to the tune of 13 in the quarter, including hitting 3 from long distance to put Elyria away for food. The Rangers now advance to play Barberton this Thursday night.
