Rangers Run Wild: North Ridgeville Powers Past Solon 70–58

Lorain County Girls Basketball Awards 2026

The North Ridgeville Rangers delivered an impressive performance in their “win and move on” matchup against the Solon Comets, earning a decisive 70–58 victory and continuing to showcase why their home court has become such a difficult place for opponents. With a strong winning record at home, the Rangers have built a reputation for playing an up-tempo, aggressive style that puts constant pressure on both ends of the floor, and that identity was on full display from the opening tip.

North Ridgeville seized control early and never surrendered it. The Rangers established the tone immediately with relentless defense and fast-paced offense, forcing Solon to play catch-up throughout the contest. The second quarter proved to be the turning point, as North Ridgeville created significant separation and settled into a commanding 20-point halftime lead.

Several key contributors fueled the Rangers’ first-half surge. Guard Brooke Schroeder set the pace offensively with 10 points before halftime, consistently attacking the basket and capitalizing on scoring opportunities. Meanwhile, guard Adri Spyres delivered a crucial stretch that energized both the team and the crowd, scoring eight consecutive points during a dominant two-minute run that helped extend the Rangers’ advantage.

Coming out of halftime, Solon showed resilience and determination. Embracing the philosophy that defense wins championships, the Comets responded with a full quarter of disciplined, aggressive defense. Solon outscored North Ridgeville 19–14 in the third quarter, steadily chipping away at the deficit and trimming the lead to 14 points. Their effort kept the game competitive and forced the Rangers to refocus heading into the final period.

Any hopes of a comeback, however, were quickly put to rest in the fourth quarter. North Ridgeville reasserted its defensive dominance, suffocating Solon’s offense and holding the Comets to just three points through the first several minutes of the period. The Rangers’ defensive intensity effectively sealed the outcome long before the final buzzer, allowing them to maintain control down the stretch.

#1 Brooke Schroeder led all scorers with an outstanding 26-point performance, pacing the Rangers with confidence and consistency.

#13 Reyna Balderas added 16 points, including four three-pointers that stretched the Solon defense and created additional scoring opportunities.

#4 Adri Spyres finished with 10 points, highlighted by her pivotal second-quarter run.

An honorable mention belongs to #3 Mary Strippy, whose impact extended far beyond the stat sheet. Though she finished with six points, Strippy’s two-way play stood out throughout the game. She seemed to be everywhere on the court, deflecting passes, disrupting Solon’s rhythm, and forcing offensive resets. One particularly effective ball fake that led to a score stood out as one of the game’s top plays.

With the victory, North Ridgeville advances with confidence, continuing to demonstrate the speed, intensity, and defensive strength that make them a formidable opponent.
