Ramar Pryor’s 31 points lifts St. Vincent-St. Mary past Lorain, 69-58

EUCLID, Ohio- After suffering a 78-70 loss Saturday night to St. Edward, St. Vincent-St. Mary rebounded by never trailing against Lorain to knock off the Titans 69-58 in game four of the Play By Play Classic Sunday afternoon at Euclid high school.

Fighting Irish junior guard Ramar Pryor led the Irish with a game-high 31 points. In fact, 15 of the 31 came in the first quarter as St. Vincent-St. Mary took a 24-15 lead after the first quarter.

Lorain was unable to get the game within single digits throughout the second quarter as the Irish went into a 3-2 zone towards the end of the quarter. With that, Lorain faced a 10-point deficit at the half.

The Titans would come out of the halftime with some adjustments. While controlling the ball more effectively, Lorain was able to climb back into the game. In fact, with just under three minutes left a Davante Jackson three-point play got them within five points, 41-36. From there, the Irish were able to end the quarter on a 9-2 run and head into the final quarter with a commanding 50-38 lead.

The lead would get back into single digits with just under five minutes left in the game, but junior forward Malaki Branham paced the Irish offense in the fourth quarter as he poured in a team-high eight of his 14 points in the final quarter.

For the game, Pryor led the Irish with 31 points and game MVP, followed up with Branham’s 14 points during the 69-58 win at Euclid. For the Titans, senior guard Aaron Whitehead led the team with 16 points and five rebounds with junior guard Seth Wilson rounding out the scoring with 13 points and eight rebounds playing for the first time against his former team.
