Professional Basketball Arriving in Lake County, Ohio

Willoughby, Ohio; September 2021:  The American Basketball Association (ABA) announced that the Burning River Buckets Professional Basketball Team, located in Willoughby, Ohio will become the newest expansion team for the 2021-2022 season.

The Buckets will begin their inaugural season on November 6, 2021.  The Buckets will play a 20 game season and will bring an ABA Championship to Lake County.  The Buckets’ home games will be contested at Lakeland Community College.  The Buckets will be purchasing a free-standing facility over the course of the next few years to construct their own arena in Lake County.

“We are very excited about the upcoming season. The Northcentral Region of the ABA is the benchmark for professional competition and provides a fan friendly environment.

We are not only dedicated to bringing an ABA Championship to Lake County, but to be a constant in the community with our outreach and academic programs. We are very confident in our players and coaching staff to help us compete at the highest level.” stated Buckets Management.

The Burning River Buckets will be coached by veteran college coach Patrick Koenig and have signed several local standouts to its inaugural roster.  These stars include Justin Fritts (Former Mr. Ohio Basketball), Cole Krizancic both from Mentor, Ohio along with Willoughby South Graduate Anthony Coleman.
