Predicting First Time All-Stars in the 2025-26 Season

The NBA’s talent is at an all-time high, making it progressively more challenging to become an All-Star. The players on this list are among the league’s elite talents, but due to injuries or lack of experience, they have yet to receive the All-Star nod.

Chet Holmgren

Following up on his historically great defensive playoff run, it would be shocking if Chet wasn’t an All-Star. Before his hip injury caused him to miss the majority of last season, he was on track for an All-NBA team. During his two-year career, he has averaged 16.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game.

With the expectation that the Oklahoma City Thunder will again be among the top defenses and teams in the league, Chet will be the anchor of that defense. His top-of-the-league defense, combined with his solid offensive game, gives him an extremely high chance to get all-star honors and even more accolades.

Franz Wagner

Wagner is one of the most well-rounded forwards in the league. His mix of downhill scoring, passing, and solid defense at 6’10” makes him a versatile player who can work well with any team. He averaged 24.2 points per game last season, the 15th best in the NBA.

In an injury-depleted Eastern Conference, some teams and players will rise to heights they have never reached. The Orlando Magic are in a position to be one of the best teams in the conference, and Wagner will be one of the best forwards in the conference. His one major flaw is his poor three-point shooting. If this issue persists, it may prevent him from receiving the honors he deserves.

Amen Thompson

It’s not an overstatement to say Amen is one of the best athletes we have ever seen. At 6’7″, he has blurring speed, great strength, and an unbelievable vertical. This athleticism, combined with elite defensive IQ, makes him one of the best defenders in the league. This was evident last season, with him earning All-Defense First Team and finishing top five in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

With the addition of Kevin Durant, the Houston Rockets are in line to be one of the best teams in the NBA, meaning they are likely to get multiple All-Stars. With the leaps he has already taken in two years, Amen is projected to take a much-needed offensive leap that will propel him to one of the elite young talents.

Jalen Johnson

Johnson is one of the most electrifying transition players in the league. Before his season-ending shoulder injury, he was playing at an all-star level. Last season, he averaged 18.9/10/5 on 50/31.2/74.6 shooting splits. The Atlanta Hawks are another team in a position to take advantage of this weak Eastern Conference and be near the top of the standings.

With teammate Trae Young being a shoe-in All-Star in this scenario, Johnson will be battling with Kristaps Porzingis for the potential second spot. Johnson’s biggest obstacle will be avoiding injuries. In his four years, he has only played over 56 games once. If he stays healthy, the young star will have an elite season and become a household name.
