Bills Convenient Store Owner Bill Rochelle at 23555 Lorain Rd
Convenient Store Owner Bill Rochelle was a man who was a salt of the Earth kind of guy! Everyone who met Bill, LOVED Bill! When his store closed up a few years back, it was about as heartbreaking as it gets. I’m telling you, Bill is the kind of guy who would give the shirt of his back to someone. He is missed by hundreds if not thousands, every single day!
Danny Boys at 24581 Lorain Rd
You may have to be a bit older for this one, but Danny Boys was right next to Dairy Queen where the Fat Heads is now. It was the freshest produce on the Westside and they would make things on the spot per request for you. Sandwiches, special drinks, they had it all. Who didn’t love their free apple cider samples in the fall?
Mountain Jacks at 777 Great Northern Blvd
You want to talk old school? Mountain Jacks closed in 2003, but for some of us, it seems like two lifetimes ago. The food was great, the prices were extremely affordable and they served unlimited Mountain Dew on draft. I mean, c’mon, what more do you want? A huge menu and friendly atmosphere also helped out. Just a great place for a bite!
Baker Square
Anyone know what they are building there anyway? This one truly frustrates me because the chain was seemingly doing well. Perhaps the free pie with your meal every Wednesday night brought them down? Who knows, but it was another North Olmsted staple for years.
Magazines and More at 26880 Brookpark Ext,
This was the one place back in the day that a high school kid, fresh off turning 18 could buy an “adult” magazine, without the embarrassment of asking the store clerk to reach behind the counter and grab it. They allowed them on their shelves which made it low profile and less embarrassing. Moving on….
