Petition To Save High School Soccer & Football In Ohio

As reported by KEE On Sports Media Group last night, the stipulations to play contact sports in Ohio currently is that players and coaches will need to be tested 72 hours before EVERY game/scrimmage this season.

Any player who has tested positive is not allowed to play, and the team’s contest is canceled. The coaches and players must have their COVID test in hand before the start of the game.

This ruling is directly from the Ohio Department of Health as mandated last evening.  If this ruling stands, then there will be no contact sports (Soccer & Football) in Ohio this fall as schools simply cannot afford the mass testing each week.  Non-contact sports can continue without testing.

If you believe a temperature reading should suffice and a check for any symptoms Related to COVID sign the petition.  If you believe they should remove this stipulation for the 2020 season please sign your name in the comment section below, and share the petition on all social media formats.

  1. Kids need sports! They need coaches and teammates, goals and challenges, physical activity and so much more!

  2. As they said in Bad News bears breaking training
Let them play— and for all those saying move soccer to spring, too many kids are committed to club teams where most college recruiting takes place. Give the kids their season. There is nothing like high school sports.

  3. Let them play! Plenty of good precautions in place to mitigate risk. How do open Cedar point and allow other sports to continue, but you aren’t going to let soccer happen this Fall with its massive outdoor field?!! Temperature check, distance on bench, be smart, and LET THEM PLAY! They’ve been training all summer with no issue. The trauma from not letting them play will outweigh an minor, minor risk of letting them play.

  4. Every child growing up who plays a sport dreams about playing with their friends under the lights.. This is a time to make dreams come true and to grow lasting memories that they will cherish forever.

  5. This is ridiculous! I have worked the frontlines in a healthcare setting since day one of this pandemic and have not been tested ONCE! Why should our children be subjected to this? Temperature checks should suffice, like it does at any workplace! Our kids’ mental health is at stake!
