Petition To Save High School Soccer & Football In Ohio

As reported by KEE On Sports Media Group last night, the stipulations to play contact sports in Ohio currently is that players and coaches will need to be tested 72 hours before EVERY game/scrimmage this season.

Any player who has tested positive is not allowed to play, and the team’s contest is canceled. The coaches and players must have their COVID test in hand before the start of the game.

This ruling is directly from the Ohio Department of Health as mandated last evening.  If this ruling stands, then there will be no contact sports (Soccer & Football) in Ohio this fall as schools simply cannot afford the mass testing each week.  Non-contact sports can continue without testing.

If you believe a temperature reading should suffice and a check for any symptoms Related to COVID sign the petition.  If you believe they should remove this stipulation for the 2020 season please sign your name in the comment section below, and share the petition on all social media formats.

  1. The kids have lost enough. They are the group least impacted physically by this virus yet being punished the most. This is not right.

  2. Let the kids play!!! These kids work so hard and need this season for their mental health. No testing should be required unless symptoms are present.

  3. Let the kids play. Parents know what is best for their children. If the schools and coaches are cautious and stick to all the guidelines It shouldn’t be a problem. Playing any if these sports has always been risky and it never stopped them from playing in the past.

  4. Temperature checks and following protocols is good enough . They should not have to be tested before every game, and there should be spectators allowed. This is beyond ridiculous. #let them play.

  5. I’m all in on sports for the kids. It builds character. High school sports have always been a part of all our lives as long as I can remember. My wife’s uncle played football for Holy Name and he graduated in 1927.
It has been part of our American heritage for over 100 years. Let’s just let our kids continue to live the American Dream. We Did.

  6. Let them play! Most guidelines for school and work are temperature checks, should be the same for sports.
