Petition To Save High School Soccer & Football In Ohio

As reported by KEE On Sports Media Group last night, the stipulations to play contact sports in Ohio currently is that players and coaches will need to be tested 72 hours before EVERY game/scrimmage this season.

Any player who has tested positive is not allowed to play, and the team’s contest is canceled. The coaches and players must have their COVID test in hand before the start of the game.

This ruling is directly from the Ohio Department of Health as mandated last evening.  If this ruling stands, then there will be no contact sports (Soccer & Football) in Ohio this fall as schools simply cannot afford the mass testing each week.  Non-contact sports can continue without testing.

If you believe a temperature reading should suffice and a check for any symptoms Related to COVID sign the petition.  If you believe they should remove this stipulation for the 2020 season please sign your name in the comment section below, and share the petition on all social media formats.

  1. Let them play! They have been practicing together for a month, no cases of this virus. Its absurd to mandate test before every game when healthcare workers do not have to do this. Temperature and screening is enough. Let them play!!

  2. Temp. and signs/symptoms have gotten them this far. Let them play! Remove the mandatory testing.

  3. Continue with current safety measures that are in place and have been working, and let these kids play! They need it, and parents have already spent a lot of money for things that cannot be returned!

  4. Let them play! Parents and student athletes should be making these choices alongside coaching staff.

  5. It’s ridiculous what’s going on with Ohio High School Fall sports programs specifically football and soccer. It’s disgusting to think Gov. Dewine can’t rule in favor of playing all high school fall sports. There is no scientific data to support what the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) is recommending. We need to stand up to Gov. DeWine and ODH to stop the political games and do what is right for our children. The testing of anyone is an absolute ridiculous idea unless they display symptoms. Let the kids play!

  6. Our student athletes deserve the chance to play, give them a chance. So many have put in endless hours of training let them play. So much has been taken away from our kids, let them have some kind of normalcy back.

  7. Let them play, the kids need it. Temp check is more than enough before each practice or game, but don’t make the entire team suffer.

  8. Let them play. Do we have to take everything from them. The athletes have been doing all that has been asked of them to prepare for the season. This is a huge part of the school experience where many life lessons are learned. It also gives all of the students, not just athletes and opportunity to support their school and have something positive. Our families and the community follow the teams in the newspaper and TV. It brings the community together. This is an extra benefit when there is so little too look forward too. Many athletes have been playing on travel baseball, at soccer and volleyball clubs, and AAU basketball all summer without shutting down without any obvious problem. Take their temperature and let them play. I believe this decision should be left to each parents. If a parent does not want their child to play the decision should be theirs. If parents believes that their child should participate then that should be their right. Too many decision have been taken away from the parents. Give the kids a chance.

  9. I didn’t believe this when I first saw it on FB, I thought it couldn’t possibly be true. I visited the ODH website to read it for myself… and indeed this insanity is true. Kids should be back in school and allowed to play the games kids play. What is the ODH agenda?? I’ve seen no science to validate this action.

  10. Let them play ! Quit stealing youth from our children ! It’s time to get back to NORMAL !!!! Not a new normal ….
