Petition To Save High School Soccer & Football In Ohio

As reported by KEE On Sports Media Group last night, the stipulations to play contact sports in Ohio currently is that players and coaches will need to be tested 72 hours before EVERY game/scrimmage this season.

Any player who has tested positive is not allowed to play, and the team’s contest is canceled. The coaches and players must have their COVID test in hand before the start of the game.

This ruling is directly from the Ohio Department of Health as mandated last evening.  If this ruling stands, then there will be no contact sports (Soccer & Football) in Ohio this fall as schools simply cannot afford the mass testing each week.  Non-contact sports can continue without testing.

If you believe a temperature reading should suffice and a check for any symptoms Related to COVID sign the petition.  If you believe they should remove this stipulation for the 2020 season please sign your name in the comment section below, and share the petition on all social media formats.

  1. This is absolutely absurd. These kids need to be allowed to play without these ridiculous mandates. Enough is Enough!

  2. No doubt- Follow safety guidelines of temperature checks and COVID symptom questionnaire. Parents sign weekly waivers. If this is adequate for hospital and nursing home visits with vulnerable populations this meets this population with a <.05% fatality rate. #letthemplay #IWANTASEASON

    1. Let these kids play. Don’t take any more away from them! We all know what to do and our kids are smart. They need to continue to learn and grow and sports is a crucial vehicle for this! #playball #goback2school #wegotthis 🏈⚽️!!!

  3. This doesn’t just seem to be an attack on our civil liberties. It seems to be an attack on football. The weak attacking the strong. I will protest if football is stopped. The CDC advised to reopen schools in the fall and we know that sports is a huge part of education, for some of us the most educational part of our education !

  4. Let these kids have a chance to play high school sports!! Coaches, players & parents are ensuring guidelines are being followed. Enough is enough we’ve got to move forward!! Let’s play Football 🏈🏈

  5. It seems like the ODH never had any intention of letting fall contact sports actually happen. They let the kids get their hopes up by letting them start practicing, just to crush them mentally and emotionally. The high schools can’t afford to test all those athletes every week. Daily temperature checks and a signed waiver stating that the athlete has no COVID-19 symptoms should be more than enough. That’s what I have to do everyday in order to report to work. My senior wants his football season. Please let them play!!

  6. Why not let parents sign a waiver to participate? There are waivers for everything else our kids do – let’s make this happen so the kids can play this school year!

  7. Let them play fall sports! Nothing else has been completely shut down. Other kids have been playing baseball all summer and no one has shut that down.

  8. Let them play! We have watched these kids get ready during conditioning and do the right thing. Only for the actual season to be taken away. What happened to standing behind the OHSAA’s decision? These kids deserve this! 🏈🏈 There is no way to get that many test!!
