Petition To Save High School Soccer & Football In Ohio

As reported by KEE On Sports Media Group last night, the stipulations to play contact sports in Ohio currently is that players and coaches will need to be tested 72 hours before EVERY game/scrimmage this season.

Any player who has tested positive is not allowed to play, and the team’s contest is canceled. The coaches and players must have their COVID test in hand before the start of the game.

This ruling is directly from the Ohio Department of Health as mandated last evening.  If this ruling stands, then there will be no contact sports (Soccer & Football) in Ohio this fall as schools simply cannot afford the mass testing each week.  Non-contact sports can continue without testing.

If you believe a temperature reading should suffice and a check for any symptoms Related to COVID sign the petition.  If you believe they should remove this stipulation for the 2020 season please sign your name in the comment section below, and share the petition on all social media formats.

          1. Based on scientific evidence by the CDC there is no reason kids should not go back to school and fall sports continue. Let them play. Don’t rob young men and women of their high school years.

        1. Let these kids play!!!! WE are the parents!! It’s our choice to allow them to play, not the health department or government

      1. Fear shouldn’t guide our decisions. Safety measures are already in place and are being followed. Let families decide on whether or not their kids can play. More harm than good will come from our kids missing out on all that participation in sports has to offer. Let them play!

      1. Let them play. What you are doing is cruel. You are using the kids as pawns. The kids have been working hard. Let them play!

    1. Life needs to continue and shutting down children’s sports is not the answer. They need routine. Let them play, run, sing, and dance. They are tge future and shutting down their lives is NOT the answer.

    1. Parents decide what’s best for their athlete, not you. Please let them play.
I work front lines on a daily basis and am not subjected to this!!

    1. No testing is being done now. Why start for games? Temperature and symptom check should be more than enough! And if a child or family doesn’t feel safe, then stay home and don’t play. #letthekidsbekids

      1. COVID disproportionately affects people over 70. According to CDC guidance, people under 18 are more likely to die of the flu than COVID. These student athlete have worked all summer so they can play. Despite huge AAU, baseball and softball tournaments there have been no major outbreaks due to youth sports. Have parents sign a waiver releasing their schools, conference and OHSAA of any liability. We owe it to our students, especially seniors, to give them a season!

    1. No test needed, unless they have symptoms please. AAU basketball, baseball, softball, & lacrosse Have been playing. Let the HS kids play too.
