1-Who are the top returning varsity player(s) on your team (with grade/position/past All-GLC recognition, brief description etc.)
Dominic DeArman, 12th Grade, RB/CB, Dominic is a 3-year varsity lettermen with Redmen. He has been named GLC honorable mention as Freshmen, Sophomore, and Junior year.
Alejandro Castro, 11th Grade, OL/DL, Honorable mention All-GLC. Ale is a 2-year varsity lettermen with the Redmen. He has been a cornerstone of the Redmen offensive and defensive line since he was a freshman. We look for him to have a big Junior year.
Alonzo Collier, 12th Grade, CB, Alonzo has been a big part of our secondary for the past two years.
Larry Wilcox, 12th Grade, WR, Larry played TE last year for the Redmen this year he made the switch from TE to WR this year. We are looking forward to seeing what he can do out on the edge.
Tyler Germ, 12th Grade, OL/DL. Tyler was an anchor on the right side of the offensive line for the last year this year he will continue to anchor the right side.
Logan Ziol, 12th Grade, LB/TE. Logan has been the “quarterback” of our defense for two years. He will continue to lead our defense this year.
2-Thinking conference level and beyond, what player on your team would be considered the “spotlight” player for the media to watch and promote this season? Why? Briefly describe him/her and what sets them apart as a player.
Junior Alejandro Castro Alejandro has been a staple on our offensive line since he was a freshman. He plays 3 sports at Parma (FB/BKB/TR) and still finds time to be in the weight room and train for football.
He exemplifies what it means to be a Redmen. He is very coachable and has one of fastest “get offs” I have seen. He is a tremendous athlete with good size and great quickness, hands and feet. He is going to open a lot of eyes this season and we expect him to be one of the area’s top linemen the next two seasons.
Senior Tyler Germ is another one of Parma’s spotlight players. This is Tyler’s second year starting on the offensive line. He has been an anchor on the right side of our offensive line. Tyler is very hard working and plays multiple sports (wrestling), and always finds a way to be in the weight room.
He is a true weight room warrior leading the team in bench press, squat, and hang clean. He is a leader on the field always teaching the young guys and helping them succeed.
Senior running back Dominic DeArman is finally fully healthy after recovering from two very serious injuries that ended both his freshman and sophomore seasons.
The varsity workhorse his freshmen and sophomore years, Dom is expected to return to the high level performer and serious offensive threat he was before injury.
Running behind the line led by Castro and Germ and fullback Cam Frolo, the 3 time All-GLC honorable mention selection should produce big numbers this year.
3- What are the keys to your team’s success this season?
This year’s keys to success is to do the little things correctly. We are going to slow down the game and run the ball. We have a couple returning linemen and running backs that we trust to move the ball. The plan is to gain 3.5 yards a play and keep our offense on the field.
4- What is the biggest goal for the season and what is it about your team that will help them achieve it?
The biggest goal for the season is to continue to improve the culture of our football program. We have great senior leadership who really take pride in the program. The young guys in our program really look up to our seniors and they all have really bought into doing everything they can to help return our football program back to greatness.
5-What will set this team apart from past teams?
Being on staff the last few years and as a former player at PSH I see that this team has a swagger and confidence about them that I haven’t seen in a while. They are committed to improving the culture of the program and have completely bought into the process.
6-What did last season teach your squad on how to overcome adversity?
Last season taught our athletes more than just how to handle adversity, it taught the kids to respect and appreciate the game because they saw how easily the game can be taken away from them.
