Parma Redmen Fall Sports Preview

Sport: Boys Soccer

Head Coach: Jeff Armstrong

1-Who are the top returning varsity player(s) on your team (with grade/position/past All-GLC recognition, brief description etc.)

Joshua Niemojewski
, our second-highest scoring player, is returning for his senior year as our team’s forward and captain.  He received a GLC honorable mention last year.  He is a true forward, a determined goal scorer, and he possesses the explosive speed and foot skills to make plays happen.

Prabin Dahal, a returning senior, captain, and center midfielder, is possibly our most skilled player.  He possesses a deep knowledge of the game.  Along with a supporting core of returning players, he is expected to control the midfield and direct the team both during games and training.

2-Thinking conference level and beyond, what player on your team would be considered the “spotlight” player for the media to watch and promote this season?  Why?  Briefly describe him/her and what sets them apart as a player.

Joshua Niemojewski would be the most likely choice as a spotlight player.  He is an exciting player to watch, and he regularly puts numbers on the scoreboard.  His speed often catches opponents on their heels, and his shots are fearsome to goalies

3- What are the keys to your team’s success this season?

Our team is focusing on ball movement, stressing possession and looking for the proper time to strike.  By working through some hiccups in our tactical game from past years, we should be competitive in more contests this season.

4- What is the biggest goal for the season and what is it about your team that will help them achieve it?

PSH is looking to drastically improve its record.  The team, as a whole, feels that it can be competitive in many more games this coming season.  There is a confidence that has developed as skills have improved that should translate to more wins.

5-What will set this team apart from past teams?

We currently have 13 seniors, most of whom have played together all four years in our program, and many who have played together since childhood.  Their familiarity with each others’ styles of play lead to a synergy that we haven’t seen in the past few years.

6-What did last season teach your squad on how to overcome adversity?

The stress of last season acted to solidify the team, in a manner of speaking, bringing the players closer together.  There was a level of cooperation that persisted despite the externalities affecting the team and our team’s record.

7-Any other information that you would like to share?

PSH Boys Soccer is a small program that is trying to do great things.  The players are confident but humble, and players are expecting great things from each other.
