1-Who are the top returning varsity player(s) on your team (with grade/position/past All-GLC recognition, brief description etc.)
Senior- Mallory Bammerlin – Center Back – 3 year varsity letterman, leading as Captain of the Varsity team. GLC Scholar-Athlete All Academic Award. We are looking for Mallory to have a big year as a senior.
Senior-Tatiana DiNardo– Holding Midfielder- 3 year varsity letterman, Co Captain of the Varsity team. All GLC Honorable Mention , GLC Scholar-Athlete All Academic Award. Tatiana played as a goalie last season as we have switched her to the #6 spot where she grown comfortable and confident in her abilities.
Sophomore – Selena Nakhleh– Forward-1 year varsity letterman, All GLC Honorable Mention, GLC Scholar-Athlete All Academic Award. Selena has a very high work rate which can overwhelm a defense in a glance. We look for Selena to challenge defenses all year long.
Sophomore- Olivia Ekechi– Holding Midfielder- 1 year varsity letterman, GLC Scholar-Athlete All Academic Award. Olivia’s ability to control a ball and seamlessly move the ball around the field is fun to watch. She is a big contributor to the midfield and team. I see big things happening in the next few years.
2-Thinking conference level and beyond, what player on your team would be considered the “spotlight” player for the media to watch and promote this season? Why? Briefly describe him/her and what sets them apart as a player.
Our “spotlight” player is Sophomore- Great example as a Redmen athlete is Selena Nakhleh a 3 sport athlete here at Parma, she is a very competitive player, willing to put in extra work before or after practice to better her touch or shooting ability. We are pleased to have her lead our offensive attack. Selena has a tremendous speed which is hard to match. It’s like she has extra gear. Selena is on track to have another great season.
3- What are the keys to your team’s success this season?
This year keys to success are simple respect, loyalty and accountability, get better each and everyday by 1%. If we make a mistake, own up to it and let’s correct it as a team. We will keep the pressure high and capitalize on the other team’s mistakes.
4- What is the biggest goal for the season and what is it about your team that will help them achieve it?
Our biggest goal is work ethic, we will out work any team on the pitch. We are creating a fun but competitive atmosphere for these ladies. We want to see them succeed in the classroom and on the pitch.
5-What will set this team apart from past teams?
I feel what will set them apart from past teams is buying into my philosophy of the game. Where we are creating a competitive culture and team unity. I have to say in the small time we have had together they are willing to put the hard work in.
6-What did last season teach your squad on how to overcome adversity?
Last season many of these athletes realized how quickly a game they love can be taken away from them. Not to live in the past and live in the moment and look forward to the future..
7-Any other information that you would like to share?
Being my first year as the Head Coach I have to say I had nerves my first scrimmage but knowing that they are willing to give my 150% the whole time is assuring. I am proud to lead this group into this season. Once a Redmen, always a Redmen!
