Painesville, OH- It was homecoming night from Riverside Stadium, and The Painesville Riverside Beavers offense was on full display. Racking up their 4th straight win in a rout over the Eastlake North Rangers 49-7.

The visiting Rangers opened with the ball to begin the game looking to strike first and quiet the raucous crowd on homecoming night. Following a series of runs from North, Riverside’s defense forced a fumble in Ranger territory which led to the first of many scores for the Beavers in the first half. Riverside Junior Quarterback Mikey Maloney threw a strike on a post pattern to Junior Wide Receiver Ethan Ross for a 19-yard touchdown to open the scoring. North failed to respond following the score and punted the ball back to the home team. This led to another touchdown by the Beavers. Pinned deep following an excellent punt from Junior Quarterback/Punter Zach Rummel of North pinned Riverside back to their own 2-yard line with a beautiful coffin corner punt.

Could this be what the Rangers needed to turn around this early deficit?
The Beavers and Mikey Maloney halted that on 3rd and 1 from the 22-yard line. A designed run up the middle led to an untouched Maloney streaking across the field for a 78-yard touchdown to put Riverside up 2 scores 14-0. The visitors from Eastlake North once again were stifled by the strong Beavers defense who has allowed only 56 points all season and 21 in their last 3 games. Another Rangers punt led to another Beavers score this time it came from Junior Running Back/Wide Receiver Brady McKnight. A beautiful throw from Maloney that led McKnight to the endzone gave the Beavers a 21-0 advantage early into the 2nd quarter. Quickly after the score, Riverside wasted no time adding to their first half lead.

Another strong Beaver drive that lasted only 1:33, was finished off by McKnight this time on the ground. McKnight took a toss from Maloney, juked twice, and reached for the pylon to score his second touchdown in as many drives. With the score being 28-0, North needed to make a quick score to get back into the game. But once again the Beavers defense held strong. On 3rd and 10 from their own 48-yard line, Riverside ended their 1st half offensive explosion with a bang. Maloney found Senior Wide Receiver Jake Elly on a slant route across the middle for a 52-yard score with 57 seconds remaining in the half.

The 2nd half started with Riverside continuing its success offensively, scoring their 6th and 7th touchdown of the game. Junior Running Back Jason Mackey led this drive with his rushing. On the first play, he gained 20 yards to set the tone for the rest of the drive. Following a few more solid runs, he capped off the drive with an impressive 26-yard touchdown showing off his wheels and elusiveness. An interception from Senior Andrew Weiss of Riverside setup the final touchdown of the night for the Beavers. Junior Running Back Dylan Lulow punched in a touchdown from 8 yards out on 3rd and goal to make the score 49-0 at the 2:02 mark in the 3rd quarter.
The Rangers would not be shut out tonight as they got on the scoreboard in the 4th quarter.

Rummel threw a deep ball over the safety’s head to Senior Wide Receiver Curtis Thomas from 28 yards out for the final score of the game. Riverside finished with 489 yards of total offense and 327 of those yards coming on the ground. Riverside travels to Martinsburg, West Virginia next week while North will host the Mayfield Wildcats. Overall, an impressive performance from start to finish for the Beavers.
