Padua has had a tremendous season as they prepare for their upcoming District Championship Game against SVSM. This game will feature two of the best coaches in the area with Padua’s Jake Lantz and SVSM’s Carley Whitney. For Lantz, the Padua Bruins came into this season with a lot of expectations and have lived up to them!
What could they do with a healthy Sophie Spade and an improving Ella Figliano, Izzy Lapp and Darlene Jaidah? Not to mention the senior leadership of Allu Tonsing and Ashley Rypiak, this team was ready to succeed and Lantz was the man to lead them.
Padua went an impressive 20-4 with their only conference loss coming to Holy Name their rival, a loss they avenged later in the year with a 58-45 victory. They had big wins against quality opponents such as Avon, Copley, SJA, Magnificat, EC and Keystone. In fact, 3 of their 4 losses came against the best teams in the state such as Wadsworth, Hoban and Brush, a murderers row!
Jake Lantz has done a TREMENDOUS job with this program and I personally feel if they can find a way to get past SVSM, they are headed to Dayton. Congrats coach!
