Padua Defeats Keystone 64-25 in Battle of Top Area Schools

WRITTEN BY CADEN LAWRENCE – Padua went into Keystone and dominated from the jump. Padua jumped out to an early 13-0 lead which was controlled by an early full court press forcing multiple turnovers for Keystone. Padua continued the 1st quarter dominance as they finished the rest of the quarter on a 12-6 run. Padua’s Sophie Spade and Darlene Jaidah led the way with a combined 12 first quarter points to cap off the first quarter 25-6.

At the beginning of the 2nd quarter, Padua continued their dominance by forcing turnovers and scoring in transition. Padua’s dynamic offensive first half stretched to outside the arc as Spade and Izzy Lapp each nailed a triple to enlarge their lead to 33 at the break.

Keystone’s Madyson Sokolowski helped them find some offensive identity coming out the break with back to back buckets, however the defense stayed the same as Padua was getting whatever they wanted in transition. Padua’s Sophie Spade and Izzy Lapp took over the 3rd quarter as they traded buckets to pour on the finishing touches ending the 3rd quarter up 61-17.

Despite Keystone winning the 4th quarter, Padua’s rebounding, physicality, and transition scoring outmatched Keystone the entirety of the game to lead them to a 64-25 victory.

Sophie Spade lead the Bruins with 20, Izzy Lapp with 18, and Darlene Jaidah with 14. Madyson Sokolowski led the Wildcats with 11. Padua now heads to 16-4 as Keystone falls to 17-3
