Parma Heights, OH- On a beautiful May evening, Padua came to play as they took down Holy Name 13-7 behind a stellar first half of offense.

The Bruins did a great job of keeping the ball away from the Green Wave early in the contest as they dominated possession. This led to Muskingum commit Marky Aponte finding the opening goal less than three minutes into the contest. Holy Name did well then to regroup as a unit and created chances. However, they were not technical at the start as many ground balls occurred due to dropped passes.

With 5:33 left to play in the quarter, Trey Gasparro found the back of the net. Around 90 seconds later, Jack Olbrys scored a goal of his own. Following this, the Namer defense settled into the game and played well for a few minutes. Unfortunately for the home team, the flood of Bruin goals was about to begin. Anthony Fittro scored a goal with 52 seconds left to play in the first. With 36 seconds on the clock, Gasparro added another goal. Finally, Fittro found the back of the net once again as time expired in the first to give the Bruins a 6-0 lead heading into the second.

The bleeding continued into the second quarter as Gasparro completed his hat-trick 48 seconds in. Fittro made it 8-0 with his third goal a few minutes later. Holy Name finally answered back with 6:10 to play in the first half as Xavier Rodriguez scored his 33rd goal of the season. However, goals from Gasparro and Olbrys would close out the half. This gave Padua a 10-1 lead heading into the break.

Gasparro wasted no time in the second half as he scored 31 seconds in. Rodriguez replied for the Green and White minutes later. With 7:20 left in the third, Rodriguez completed his hat-trick. 13 seconds after this, Fittro replied. It only took HN 22 seconds after that goal to answer back. Yes, this sequence was as crazy as the written explanation suggests. The offense for both teams would slow down for a few minutes as both Peter Rose and Jackson Hicks made excellent saves for the Green Wave and Bruins respectively. Then, Mount Union commit Colin Matier would continue the scoring for Padua with 3:45 left in the third. However, Rodriguez had the last word of the frame as he slotted home his fifth goal with 53 seconds left.

The fourth quarter started off in favor of Holy Name. Phoenix Heygi got his name on the scoresheet two minutes into the frame. Then, back and forth lacrosse ensued. Both teams had great chances to score, but defense was surprisingly the story in the final frame of this 20-goal thriller. Rodriguez capped off the night with his sixth goal. As the final buzzer sounded, Padua celebrated a 13-7 win in the Parma Holy War.

With the goals today, Rodriguez now has 38 on the campaign. The record for most goals in a single season at Holy Name is 42. The sophomore will go for history tomorrow night as the Namers welcome in North Ridgeville. Padua will have some well-earned rest this week as they will take to the turf again on May 7th at Benedictine.
