Stow, Ohio – Sophomore quarterback Owen Bainbridge has been nothing short of impressive this season. Friday night, he threw five touchdowns, all in the first half, en route to a 51-14 victory over visiting North Royalton on homecoming night. The win was also the 100th career victory for head coach Tom Phillips.
The Bulldogs were on the prowl early and often, starting with an interception on North Royalton’s first drive. Bainbridge took advantage of the short field and tossed the first of four first-quarter touchdowns to Jack Costa. The ensuing two-point conversion was successful, and Stow led 8-0. He would later find Dalen Stovall on the next drive to add to the Bulldog lead, and found Costa again two more times, and the Bulldogs led 30-0 after the first quarter.
Early in the second quarter, North Royalton got on the board, converting a first down off a fourth-and-short fake punt. The Bears would drive down the field into Stow territory, and senior running back Simon Antonio would punch it in from four yards out to put the Bears on the board.
The Bulldogs would respond by adding two more scores in the quarter. Jordan Ansley would add a touchdown reception and Seth Shinsky would rush for a touchdown to make the score 44-7 going into the halftime break. Each team had a rushing touchdown in the second half for the final margin.
The Bulldogs improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the
Suburban League National Division and will travel to Wadsworth to continue league play.
North Royalton drops to 3-2 and 1-1 overall in the
Suburban League National Division and will travel to Twinsburg to continue league play.
