Oscar Mercado Delivers Walk Off Single In 10th For 2-1 Victory Over Reds

The Indians only received minimal offense once again tonight, but the difference this time was the fantastic starting pitching that helped them secure a thrilling walk off victory at home against interstate rivals the Cincinnati Reds.

It was rookie sensation Oscar Mecado coming up big in the clutch for his biggest career hit thus far.  Mercado hit a bases loaded single with one out in the 10th inning to give the Indians their 5th win in 7 games.

This came after a masterful 7 and two thirds inning outing by Trevor Bauer.  He only allowed 1 run on 6 hits and looked the best he has all season.  Bauer also had 6 strikeouts in a 118 pitch outing.  He did walk 5 however, as he still is having a few control issues.

Once again Frankie Lindor led the Tribe with two its tonight.  Only 4 other Indians managed to get a hit.  One of which was Carlos Santana, whose 397 foot solo homer in the bottom of the 4th opened the games scoring.

Starting for the Reds tonight, was Luis Castillo who also looked sharp.  He only gave up one run in six innings while striking out six himself.  He did walk two batters as well.

The two teams complete the brief two game set tomorrow afternoon at 1:10pm.  Starting on the mound for the Reds will be Anthony DeSciafani who is 2-3 on the season with a 4.70 ERA.

For the Indians, it will be another rookie sensation when Zach Plesac takes the hill for the good guys.  Plesac is 1-1 in his first couple of starts with an impressive 1.86 ERA and 14 strikeouts in only 3 starts.
