Olmsted Falls Find Redemption at Home Defeating Brunswick 29-15

OLMSTED FALLS, OH – After their opening loss, the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs looked for redemption at home as they hosted their second home game of this young season against the Brunswick Blue Devils. On a fast opening drive for the Bulldogs, Logan Connelly came out running for 51 yards, followed up with a 9-yard rushing touchdown, giving Olmsted Falls an early 7-0 lead. For Brunswick, they struggled to get the offense going on the opening drive. On 3rd down for the Blue Devils, Sullivan Murray recorded a big sack, which forced Brunswick to punt. On their next possession, Olmsted would stall out, but a mishandled punt by Brunswick would give the Bulldogs the ball on their 7-yard line, where running back Owen Singleton punched it in for the 7-yard touchdown. The PAT was unsuccessful, giving the Bulldogs a 13-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

To start the 2nd quarter, Brunswick put together a drive that stalled on a mishandled handoff, which was recovered by the Bulldogs. After a costly offensive pass interference call in the redzone for Olmsted Falls, Olmstead Falls Aidan O’Malley made the 23-yard field goal, giving the Bulldogs a 16-0 lead going into halftime.

Brunswick came out of the half rolling with a 25-yard pass from Sean Barnett to Jake Tomosinuas. The next play, Barnett rushed for 26 yards, but the drive stalled and Olmsted Falls took over. Despite the win, penalties were costly for the Bulldogs all game long, setting them back. A fumble by the Bulldogs’ Cameron Pesch gave the Blue Devils life. Brunswick drove down the field to a 2nd and goal, where Eli Nichols rushed into the endzone and fumbled. The fumble was recovered by Brunswick’s Jamaurie Garth, cutting the deficit to 16-8 with 3:34 minutes to play in the 3rd quarter. Olmstead Falls would begin a nice drive down the field before the quarter ended.

Opening the fourth quarter, Olmsted Falls’ Cameron Pesch had a big 29-yard run that led to a 5-yard rushing touchdown from Logan Conelly, his second of the night. The PAT was no good, but Olmsted Falls still led 22-8 with 10:28 to play in the 4th quarter. Brunswick, needing a late touchdown to shift the momentum, went for it on 4th down on their own 47, but came up 1 yard short. On the preceding possession, Olmsted Falls marched down the field and on 2nd and goal, Logan Connelly rushed 16 yards for the score, giving the Bulldogs the 29-8 lead with 4:18 to go.

On Brunswick’s final drive, Sean Barnett connected with Adin Evert for the big 41-yard touchdown. The onside kick attempt by the Blue Devils was no good. Olmsted Falls gets their first win of the season, improving to 1-1 on the season with a 29-15 victory over Brunswick who falls to 0-2. The Bulldogs will travel to Strongville for their first road test of the year against the Mustangs. Brunswick will continue their two-game road trip, traveling to Elyria next week, looking for their first win of the year.

The player of the game for Olmsted Falls was Logan Conelly, who had 6 carries for 93 yards along with 2 catches for 22 yards. Conelly had 3 rushing touchdowns.

The player of the game for Brunswick was quarterback Sean Barnett who was 14/22 for 153 passing 1 touchdown. Barnett also had 5 carries for 56 yards.
