Olmsted Falls Defeats Amherst 44-13

Olmsted Falls – As we head into the later weeks of OHSAA football season we travel to Olmsted falls as two of the Southwestern Conference’s many heavyweights, the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs and the Amherst Comets, battle it out in week 7. The Bulldogs were to hand themselves a 44 to 13 victory over the Comets.

In this matchup of conference foes, it was the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs who struck first with a 64-yard quarterback keeper by #9 Jimmy Rosol. After stalling the Amherst Comet offense, the Bulldog offense got back to work with a 37-yard touchdown run by running back #2 Logan Connelly. Both offenses would be stalled, and Amherst would end the first quarter driving.

Amherst rallying some momentum continued the drive into the second quarter and they cashed in for a touchdown on a 1-yard quarterback keep from #14 Cole Norris. The Bulldog defense was able to blow up the point after attempt, blocking the kick. Not to be outdone by the Comet offense, the Bulldog offense struck back with their own 1-yard quarterback keeper by #9 Rosol. Fearing that the Bulldogs could run away with it the Comets put together an organized air attack on the Bulldog defense. The Comets’ drive was capped off with a 28-yard touchdown pass to wide out #29 Cael Charles. The Bulldogs finished out the half with a time-consuming drive that ended with a 17-yard field goal from kicker #24 Callen Kaufman.

Coming out of the half the Bulldog offense methodically ran their way down the field and got a 1-yard touchdown run to #26 Singleton to start to second half. The Bulldog defense was able to hold the line and force a punt. The Bulldog offense gave it to #26 Singleton to punch it in from 1-yard out. Another Bulldog defensive stop allowed the Bulldogs to score again with a 16-yard pass to #2 Connelly. The point after sailed wide left.

The Comets were looking for something offensively and they were able to get the run game going driving all the way down to the one-yard line, but after a botched snap gone wrong the Bulldogs take over. The very next play #9 Rosol kept the ball and flipped the field with an 89-yard run. Running it in for the 6-yard touchdown was #26 Singleton. The Comets were not able to get anything done offensively and the Bulldogs brought home the 44 to 13 homecoming victory over the Comets.

Player of the game for the Bulldogs was #26 Owen Singleton. Getting 3 rushing touchdowns and 185 rushing yards on 21 carries, he played a massive part in the Bulldog victory. The player of the game for the Comets was Quarterback #14 Cole Norris. He brought the life and energy for the Comet Offense. He gathered 18 completions on 28 attempts, one touchdown over the air, one on the ground, 180 passing yards and 65 yards rushing.

Olmsted Falls (5-2) will continue conference play as they travel to take on the Avon Lake Shoreman (4-2) at 7pm in week 8 of OHSAA football action.

The Amherst Comets (5-2) will also continue conference play as the play host to the Elyria Pioneers (0-6) for week 8, kickoff is slated for 7pm.
